Smoke from the wildfires in the United States is drifting eastward across the continent prompting air quality warnings in some provinces including British Columbia and Alberta. While it has made itself known in the form of a haze over southern portions of Newfoundland, air quality will not be an issue.
Satellite imagery depicts a thin blanket of smoke rolling over Atlantic Canada before meeting with clouds from Hurricane Paulette south of the island.
More evidence of smoke will likely be visible throughout today, as Environment Canada predicts low levels of pollution driven by the wildfires will reach Newfoundland and Labrador by this evening.

Rob Carroll of Environment Canada says the haze won’t be noticeable after tomorrow evening.
He says we won’t notice anything in terms of air quality as the smoke is well up into the atmosphere. However, it may generate some nice sunrises and sunsets.
