Memorial University is reporting a surge in late registrations resulting in record student numbers.
The first day of classes saw a peak of 19,429 students—it’s only the second time that student numbers topped 19,000 at MUN and is the largest year-over-year growth since 2003.
President Vianne Timmons says enrolment figures are a reflection of the times, but also show the resilience of students.
Enrolment at Grenfell Campus is up almost five per cent, while the Marine Institute has 3.8 per cent more students this fall over last.
While the number of graduate students remained relatively stable, there are over 700 more undergraduate students at Memorial this semester than in the fall of 2019.
