Perchance Theatre in Cupids has come up with a way to share their love of the Bard with the audience, even while live performances are not possible.
Back in March the theatre company, like all theatre companies across the country, was forced to rethink how to bring performances to the public without a live audience.
Artistic Director, Danielle Irvine came up with The Power of One, a series of 40 Shakespearean soliloquies, performed by members of their company.
The first, released this week, features Greg Malone, alone on the stage in Cupids, performing “All the World’s a Stage” from As You Like it.
Irvine says watching the industry “vanish” has been “hard on the heart” and being able to exercise their craft has brought joy to their actors. The launch this week garnered over 1000 views on the first day.
She’s hoping they’ll be able to return to the theatre in June with an actor welcoming the audience back.
