A man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police received several reports of a man brandishing a firearm while in a vehicle on Kenmount Road. The RNC located the vehicle and charged a 20-year-old man with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and using a firearm or imitation of one during the commission of an offence. The accused was released for a later court appearance.
A woman spent the night in jail after an assault in the centre city area. The RNC went to Cookstown Road yesterday afternoon and arrested the 46-year-old on charges of assault, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats, and breach of court orders. She will be in court today.
In separate incidents, a 63-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault in a domestic incident in the centre city. The victim was treated in hospital and released.
And a 47-year-old was charged with assault after a domestic incident also in the centre city. The victim was injured and treated.
The RNC also responded to a domestic incident in the area of the Foxtrap Access Road. A 30-year-old man was charged with assault. The victim went to the hospital as a precaution after suffering an injury.
Police have a man in custody after somebody was seen in the downtown peering into vehicles. The 38-year-old man was identified by a witness. The suspect, who was located after a brief search, had been on a court-ordered curfew. He has been charged with breaches and possession of property obtained by crime. He will be in court this morning.
Two impaired drivers were taken off the road over the weekend in Conception Bay South. The RNC responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Topsail in CBS on Saturday. The vehicle was located but the 47-year-old driver fled on foot. However, he was quickly apprehended by RNC K9 Gunner. The man was arrested for drunk driving and was also found to have an outstanding arrest for impaired and court order breaches. He was held overnight for court, and his vehicle was impounded.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, RNC responded to another possible impaired driver in town. A 42-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving. Her vehicle was seized and she was released to appear in court at a later date.
