Enforcement officers are trying to find out who left four quarters of untagged moose in a wooded area directly across from the St. John’s Rod and Gun Club in the Holyrood area.
Officers found the meat partially concealed by brush at a location not far from the transmission line after they received a call from someone in the area.
It is an offence under the Wild Life Act to willfully or intentionally allow the flesh of wildlife taken—and appropriate for food—to be destroyed, wasted, or spoiled.
They’re encouraging anyone with information, or who witnessed suspicious activity between October 19 and 22 to contact the Resource Enforcement Division at 709-729-2192 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
