Opposition Leader John Hogan opened Question Period congratulating the St. John’s native for the goal that secured the Canadiens game 7 victory over the Lightning.
Premier Tony Wakeham, who is not shy in professing his love of the Canadiens, was quick to respond.
Hogan offered his congratualtions to Newhook and joked, “for all the Canadiens fans across the country, you’re welcome!”
The Premier says “as a Montreal Canadiens fan, I am very thankful for the Leader of the Opposition to bring up the Montreal Canadiens and our own great Alex Newhook, and it was a pleasure to watch that game.”
Speaker Paul Lane, who is a Leafs fan, agreed; “I’ll cheer for him anyway.”
