Be wary of fraudulent phone calls from people trying to scam others with COVID-19 as the selling point.
An incident has occurred in the Eastern Health region where the caller claimed to be the Chief Medical Officer of Health and asked the individual to confirm their personal information, such as MCP number and mailing address.
The Department of Health and Community Services says the public should be aware that the Chief Medical Officer of Health does not make or leave such phone messages.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call or message should immediately report it to the nearest police detachment.
