The Department of Health is reminding the public of precautions to take to make sure there are no COVID-related scares stemming from this Halloween.
Trick-or-treating is a go for this Saturday as COVID-19 cases remain low and mostly travel-related in this province.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, says guidelines regarding physical distancing and limiting close personal contacts should still be adhered to. As well, if you are sick, do not partake in giving out, or receiving treats.
If you are giving out treats, Fitzgerald recommends sanitizing your hands before doing so, wearing a mask when you answer the door, and dropping any candy directly into the child’s bag. She says children should wash their hands before and after trick-or-treating, and before eating any candy.
Meanwhile, little ghosts and goblins taking to the streets Saturday night may wish to bring a coat with them.
According to Environment Canada, the metro region will see a chance of rain showers or flurries during the day.
However, Halloween Night is looking good for most island-wide, but it will be cold.
Lows will reach -3°C in the east, including the Avalon, and central and the west coast will dip down to about -6°C.
