The RNC is investigating a stabbing in downtown St. John’s early Sunday morning.

Shortly before 1 a.m., the RNC’s Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Section responded to the incident on George Street, between Williams Lane and the main event stage.

Police say the attack occurred in a large crowd and that the victim went to the hospital on his own in a taxi. They say they located the victim at the hospital in stable condition, and confirmed he suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Police are asking anyone with cellphone video in that area at that time to contact the RNC.

So far there are no arrests in the case but the investigation is ongoing.
