A 24-year-old St. Philip’s man found himself in trouble with the law after police uncovered a significant amount of contraband tobacco in his truck.
The discovery was made yesterday morning as police set out to investigate the contents of a pickup truck based off information they received.
They pulled over the driver near South Branch, and uncovered a payload of tobacco products—including nearly 90,000 contraband cigarettes.
The 24-year-old driver was arrested but later released from custody with a date in court.
Charges are now pending under the Federal Excise Act and Provincial Revenue and Administration Act.
