While the provincial government is advising that you can have up to 20 contacts this holiday season, hosting or attending a work Christmas party is something they’re saying you should think twice about.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says she recognizes this has been a tough year for many work places, and employers may want to host a Christmas party as a way of showing their thanks, however she doesn’t believe such group events are the best way to go about that.
She suggests employers show their appreciation in other ways, such as gift baskets. She says if workplaces are planning events, physical distancing must be top of mind as co-workers are not often close contacts in each other’s bubbles.
