A man is in custody after an incident which began on the main road through Paradise last night.
The RNC noticed a vehicle on Topsail Road driving at a high rate of speed just after 8:00. The driver ignored the red flashing lights for a short time but then complied.
While police were taking him into custody, a woman turned up and told officers that his vehicle had struck her vehicle just prior to the stop.
The 55-year-old man has been charged with impaired, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and breaching several court orders.
The vehicle was impounded.
