It has been a record-breaking day temperature-wise across much of the province.
The majority of the island saw unseasonably warm temperatures today, particularly on the west coast where the temperatures rose to the mid-teens.
David Neil, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says today’s temperatures won’t officially be confirmed until overnight—but it’s looking as though many areas will see new highs going into the record books.
Stephenville Airport hit 15.7°C today, which is a new record for that region. Corner Brook, Daniel’s Harbour and Deer Lake also appear to have broken records today.
The record temperatures weren’t confined to the west coast, either. Neil reveals that the Badger area in central hit new highs as well.
Neil notes that a lot of of the records broken today were set on another unseasonably warm day in 2008.
