The leader of the provincial PC Party is coming down hard on the Liberal government after Husky Energy announced some 75 layoffs at the West White Rose project.
Ches Crosbie is questioning government’s competence as the layoffs come just days following a $41.5-million infusion of cash for the project.
Crosbie says he’s astonished that within hours of a large sum of money being spent, supposedly for job creation, they’re hearing of 75 layoffs.

He questions government’s level of competence, which allowed that to happen—as the announcement was supposed to be a good news event about job creation. Now, he says, 75 families have had the joy removed from the Christmas season.
Crosbie believes there are too many unanswered questions, even though TradesNL spent the weekend meeting with Premier Furey.
He says it’s time for Furey to come clean and give the people of the province transparency as to what good that $41.5-million is doing.
