Team Canada has announced its final roster for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships and it includes two Newfoundland players.
Dawson Mercer of Bay Roberts and Alex Newhook of St. John’s will wear the maple leaf as part of the 25-player roster.
Canada and the other nine participating nations will enter Edmonton’s “bubble” this Sunday to quarantine and be tested before the tournament starts on Christmas Day, which is two weeks from today.
A third local name is also on the roster, as Brian Cheeseman of Mount Pearl is listed as a therapist for Team Canada.
