There is one new case of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador today.
The case is travel-related. A man between 20-39 years of age in the Central Health region recently returned home from work in Alberta.
That brings the province to 29 active cases, with one person in hospital. 347 people have recovered to date.
The Department of Health is advising rotational workers about an outbreak at Coastal GasLink’s 7 Mile Lodge and Little Rock Lake Lodge sites in British Columbia, following notification from Public Health Canada.
Workers from those sites who have returned to Newfoundland and Labrador within the last 14 days must self isolate and contact 811 for testing.
The full list of outbreaks reported at worksites can be found on the Government of NL’s website at this link.

Ontario and Quebec have both posted over 2,000 new cases of COVID-19, continuing a streak of high numbers.
Over the last 24 hours, just over 2,200 cases of COVID-19 were reported in Ontario. That, as the province gets set to roll back into lockdown on Boxing Day.
The lockdown will shutter all non-essential businesses and ban indoor gatherings. Winter break for schools will also be extended by a week.
Quebec, meanwhile, posted just under 2,200 cases today—marking the third day in a row with more than 2,000 newly-identified cases.
