Police have issued a warning regarding disturbing reports of graphic content emailed to residents of this province.
The caution follows two separate incidents reported to the RCMP earlier this month.
On December 17, residents received unsolicited emails containing links exposing them to what police call “disturbing and graphic child sexual assault imagery.”
The matter is under investigation by both Gander and Springdale RCMP detachments, as well as the RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Team.
In both cases, the messages came from the address ‘mail@aloette.me”.

Anyone who receives an email from that address is advised to contact the police and not to open said email. The RCMP asks that these emails be provided to police as part of the ongoing investigation.
While there is a company that operates under the name Aloette, investigators say there is no reason to believe the messages originated from that company.
A fraudulent email may contain a computer virus, an attempt to steal personal information, or worse—as in this case, it may also expose someone to disturbing material.
