The mayor of St. John’s is wishing everyone a happy holiday season following a year that included a city stopping snowstorm and a world stopping pandemic.

Danny Breen says 2020 has been “a challenging year beyond anybody’s expectations.”

The city went from an 8 day state of emergency in January to the COVID-19 lockdown in March.

Danny Breen says he is very proud to be the mayor of a city that came together through so much adversity and he is wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday season.

Meanwhile the mayor of Mount Pearl, Dave Aker, has a special message for everyone in the province this Christmas.

He hopes everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Especially for Mount Pearl residents, he hopes they stay safe and enjoy the holidays within their bubbles.
