The owner of one of the most popular indoor amusement venues in the province likens it to pulling the plug on a loved one on life support.
Businessman Ross Squires took to Facebook yesterday to announce that Axtion will be closing its doors for good at the end of the week.
Squires admits the pandemic and public health requirements to prevent the spread of the virus proved too much for his business.

He’s moved by the huge outpouring from the community. As of this morning, his post had tens of thousands of views and hundreds of positive comments.
People are telling him their children are sad—and that’s the hard part, according to Squires. He says there are few facilities available that could accommodate that many people. Each Christmas they’d be “booked solid” with corporate and children’s Christmas parties, but all that is gone now.
Squires says time and again patrons remarked on what he had to offer.
Visitors from outside the province would tell him they wished they had a similar facility in their home town. Action offered a variety of amusements and activities for all ages out of the weather and under one roof.
The company will officially close at 7:00 p.m. this coming Sunday.

Yet another local business has fallen victim to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Axtion, a popular indoor amusement park, is closing its doors as of this coming Sunday.
In a message posted to Facebook, owner Ross Squires announced that they are no longer able to operate due to a low customer base and high expenses.
He says he didn’t want to close the doors but it’s out of his control and that “COVID won.”
Squires thanked the company’s patrons who have been sending messages of support.
He says they’ll miss their customers as children have come to Axtion and boosted their confidence by climbing to heights they never thought they would.
