Three people are facing charges in connection with dental work carried out on an inmate of the Bishop’s Falls Correction Centre at a Gander dental clinic in October of last year.
49-year-old Dr. Louis Bourget of Bedford, Nova Scotia, 48-year-old Roy Goodyear of Carmanville, and 43-year-old Ronald McDonald of Trinity are scheduled to appear in Gander provincial court on April 6 to face the charges.
The dentist and two former correctional officers are each facing criminal charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in relation to the incident.
The inmate had been brought to the clinic to undergo major dental work.
Late last year St. John’s lawyer Bob Buckingham launched a lawsuit against the provincial government alleging the negligent performance of dental surgery on an inmate.
