The President of NAPE is livid that government employees at two sites that have seen confirmed COVID cases have not yet been asked to work from home.
Instead, workers who are not considered to be close contacts have to fill out an 11-page document detailing what kind of flooring a worker has at home and whether their chair has good lumbar support.
Jerry Earle calls that ridiculous. He says since yesterday he’s been going back and forth with an assistant deputy minister, deputy minister, a labour relations specialist, and others over a document that employees are expected to complete.
Earle says they did not face the same issues in the last outbreak. He says the caretaker convention which came into effect when the election was called is to blame for the lack of clarity and difficulties they’re facing.
