Wabana Mayor Gary Gosine would like to see passengers on the ferries to Bell Island be allowed to stay in their vehicles during crossings now that the province is dealing with community spread of COVID-19.
Crossings are currently limited to essential workers and those traveling for medical appointments or picking up essential supplies.
Yesterday, Labrador Marine set new restrictions on the Strait of Belle Isle service that would allow for some passengers to remain in their vehicles during the trip.
Gosine says with the new variant of COVID-19 now spreading through the province, it’s better for passengers to be separated in their own vehicles, still allowing space for up to 36 people on the deck.
