There’s a mixed bag of weather moving into the island late this afternoon or early tonight.
The west coast, central Newfoundland, and the northeast coast are in for 15-30 cm of snow while the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas and parts of the south coast will see that snow turn to rain—but not before an extended period of freezing rain.
Labrador is off the hook.
Environment Canada Meteorologist David Neil says the freezing rain will move in overnight and have a significant impact on conditions.
He says as the snow transitions into ice pellets, the freezing rain will create a “winter mess.”
