Police have arrested an 84-year-old man for impaired driving in Stephenville, in the middle of the afternoon.

At around 2:00 p.m. yesterday, an RCMP officer observed a car tailgating another vehicle. The car pulled out and sped past the other vehicle. Police pulled him over and gave him a road side test, which he failed. He was charged with impaired driving and ticketed for having open alcohol in his vehicle.

His license was suspended and the car was seized and impounded. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
