A 28-year-old man appeared in court via teleconference this morning in relation to recent incidents of damaged mailboxes in the metro region.
Chad Clarke of St. John’s is accused of theft of mail, mischief, and breach of court orders. He was also found to have $60,000 in outstanding fines.

The alleged offences occurred on February 13 at mailboxes in the St. John’s area and at Greycliffe Condominiums.
Clarke remains at HMP pending his next court appearance on Friday.

Police have made an arrest in connection with multiple incidents of damaged mailboxes in the St. John’s area over a period of several days.
Police stopped a 28-year-old man in the west end of St. John’s last night and charged him with theft of mail, mischief and breach of court orders.
In the process, they found that his driver’s license had been suspended and that he owes over $60,000 in fines.
The vehicle was impounded and the suspect was sent to the Lockup.
