The Chief Electoral Officer sees nothing wrong with him, and other elections officials, personally delivering ballots to selected people.
Bruce Chaulk said he did so for a few people in the neighbourhood that he personally had to process because they were candidates. He says it’s not unusual for elections officials to take that approach, and that a number of ballots have already been dropped off personally by officials.
He expects the counting to begin this weekend, and take about three weeks to complete which means we won’t have a winner declared until late March and possibly into April.
The total number of ballots when combining in-person and special balloting is just under 190,000.
About 215,000 people— roughly 60 per cent of eligible voters—cast a ballot in the 2019 election but 190,000 would drop the turnout to just over 50 per cent with approximately 368,000 eligible voters.
