Health authorities in Central and Western Newfoundland will begin offering vaccinations to area residents 85 and older over the next week.

Starting March 8, vaccinations will be provided in Port Saunders, Norris Point, Deer Lake, Corner Brook, Stephenville, Port aux Basques, and Burgeo in the Western Health region.

In the Central Health region, vaccines will start to be offered March 9 for those over the age of 85 in Buchans, Baie Verte, Harbour Breton, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Lewisporte, Botwood, Springdale, Brookfield, Twillingate and Fogo.

Other communities will be added as the roll-out continues.

Vaccination will be by appointment only and available for people who have pre-registered. Patients will be contacted to set up their appointment.

If a person is unable to travel to the location offered for the vaccine, they may choose to wait until a clinic is available closer to their home.
