Health Canada has cleared Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose COVID-19 shot, giving the country a fourth vaccine option.
The vaccine can be stored and transported at refrigerated temperatures for at least three months, making it easier for distribution across the country.
Canada has pre-purchased 10-million doses, with options to buy another 28-million. Health Canada has become the first major regulator to approve four different vaccines.
Canada lacks domestic production which has led to an immediate shortage of vaccines. The US isn’t exporting locally made vaccines, so Canada along with Mexico have been forced to get vaccines from Europe and Asia.
