The namesake of the Southern Shore Arena in Mobile has passed away. Kenny Williams had been battling ALS.
He was one of the founding members of the lobbying committee for the arena, and one of the most ardent supporters of hockey—and the Breakers—on the Southern Shore. He also managed the arena for over 30 years.
Williams was inducted into the NL Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015 as a builder and received the Hockey Canada Meritorious Award in 2017.
Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador and Hockey Canada each extend their condolences to Williams’ family and friends.
