Elections NL has extended the mail-in deadline for all ballots in the current provincial election.
Chief Electoral Officer Bruce Chaulk says because concerns have been raised about the timely return of ballots due to weather and transportation disruptions, he’s extended the date for the return of ballots.
The original deadline to get special mail-in ballots in the mail was this Friday, March 12. All ballots must now be received at Elections NL headquarters in St. John’s by 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 25.
That cutoff date will be strictly enforced according to Elections NL.
The last voting kits were mailed out to voters on Wednesday, March 3. Anyone who applied for a voting kit should receive it by this Friday, March 12 at the latest, according to Chaulk.
If an elector hasn’t received their kit by this Friday, they should call Elections NL at 1-877-729-7987.
