Women are the backbone of the province’s community and non-profit sector, according to the CSC-NL.

The Community Sector Council is offering its thanks to the many women who keep volunteer and non-profit organizations going—a segment of the economy vital to the province.

CEO Penny Rowe says women are always stepping up to take on leadership roles in the non-profit sector according to research they’ve conducted provincially.

67 per cent of organizations in NL say that over half of those who worked on the board level are women. Similarly, 83 per cent of respondents indicated that over half the people who worked in their organization were women.
