More questions and frustrations are being raised about the rollout of vaccines from those who work on the front lines.
The Teachers Union wants teachers prioritized in the province’s vaccine plans.
President Dean Ingram points to the recent outbreak involving Mount Pearl Senior High as a prime example of the vulnerable position teachers are in.
He says more than a dozen teachers tested positive for COVID-19, many of whom had to seek medical attention for their illness.
The Registered Nurses Union meanwhile is calling for transparency and a faster rollout of vaccines for health care workers. RNU President Yvette Coffey says despite repeated union requests, the vaccination plan for Phase 2 has not been provided.
She says they’ve asked repeatedly for a plan and data on the breakdown of health care workers who are vaccinated, and they’re still waiting.
