Department of Highway officials are watching flooding on the main highway linking King’s Point and Springdale very closely.
A local brook has flooded its banks and the culvert under the highway is unable to handle the volume of water.
Local resident Perry Gillingham tells VOCM News that water has filled the adjacent ditch, and is running over the road—eroding the shoulders.
Officials from Transportation and Works are on the scene to monitor traffic and allow vehicles through one at a time.
In the meantime, Gillingham says similar flooding is occurring on the road to Harry’s Harbour.
