One of the most glaring omissions from the province’s reopening plan is the K-12 school system, but the province’s chief medical officer contends that is an issue that must be addressed separately.
Under the “Together Again” plan released yesterday, the aim is to have most public health restrictions greatly eased, if not lifted entirely.
That means those restrictions would be lifted at the start of the new school year.

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says schools were not referenced in the reopening plan because they are a very specific situation and need to be worked through with the school boards and the department of education.
She says their hope is that junior high and high schools can go back to normal. They are still working through what that may look like for younger grades, but they are hoping to get back to a “pretty normal school year.”
