A Toronto-based gas price watcher is providing a special tribute to the late George Murphy.
Murphy’s weekly gas price predictions became an essential part of VOCM’s Wednesday morning news run, and many across the province waited to hear what George had to say before deciding whether to gas up, or wait.
Sadly, George Murphy’s voice, and computer, went silent on the weekend.
Dan McTeague of Toronto, who calls himself the Gas Price Wizard on Twitter posted gas price predictions yesterday “out of profound respect for my friend” George Murphy.
McTeague says gas is expected to rise by close to two cents a litre, while heating, stove oil and diesel are expected to rise by 2.3 cents a litre.
The funeral service for George Murphy will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. It will be live-streamed on the Carnell’s website.
Out of profound respect for my late friend @GeorgeMurphyOil here are the price changes for Thurs June 10, 2021: Heating, stove oil & diesel to increase by 2.3 cents/litre while gasoline rises 1.8 cents. Oil now trading past $70 a barrel with less worry about inflation #nltraffic.
