As of Monday, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will be able to get a copy of their vaccination record online, but exactly how the so-called “vaccine passports” will work in practice is still unclear.
Health Minister John Haggie says the online process will be similar to how people access their COVID test results online, and will require a valid MCP card.
According to Haggie, there is no accepted national standard when it comes to proving the legitimacy of vaccine documents, as it’s a live issue at the federal level.
However, he says they do have documentation for proof of vaccines for things like yellow fever.
Haggie states it’s new ground and they’ll be following national guidance.
