Residents and businesses of Quidi Vidi Village are generally in favour of a proposed pilot project that would turn a portion of the area into a pedestrian-only zone this summer.
The project would see one-way traffic introduced from Regiment Road through Cadet Road.
Generally, both businesses and residents support the idea of piloting the project this summer and making it permanent if it is successful.
Businesses are more in favour of just having the closure on weekends, while residents would like to see it every day.
Some residents raised concerns about access to their properties during the closures. In response, the city says staffed barricades would be set up, allowing local access as needed.
As far as the one-way traffic element goes, businesses were supportive while the response from residents was mixed. They raised concerns about having to circle around the lake, as well as fears that such a setup would increase speeds through the area.
