The Town of Clarenville is taking a “zero-tolerance approach” to vandalism following weeks of repeated incidents at a local park and walking trail.
The town council says despite efforts to curb damage to public property in Elizabeth Swan Park and nearby walking trails, they continue to see cases of vandalism on a regular basis. Specifically, the Rotary cookhouse and washrooms, which remain open for public use, have sustained damage over the past few weeks.
The town will be providing video evidence of five young people suspected of damaging the town’s splash pad to the authorities.
In a separate incident, the town says two people were charged after being recorded vandalizing public property.
Council is asking anyone who witnesses vandalism to report the incident directly to the local RCMP.
