The provincial government has announced the details of a new Tourism and Hospitality Support Program first mentioned in the budget.
The province announced the details yesterday in a news release. Operators who suffered a loss of sales in 2020 over the previous year and have a reasonable plan to continue operations in 2021 and 2022 are eligible to apply.
Applicants who qualify are eligible for a minimum of $2500 dollars up to a maximum of $50,000 dollars per enterprise. They must have been in operation for at least one year as of March 16, 2020 with the exception of start-ups that were registered in 2020 and preparing to open for the 2020-21 season.
Target groups include accommodations that are licensed under the Tourist Establishments Act in 2020, tour companies, attractions, food and beverage establishments, outfitters, tour and motor coach operators, and tourism retail and events designed to attract non-resident visitors.
