St. John’s city council has approved the implementation of a pedestrian-only zone in Quidi Vidi Village on weekends throughout the summer.
Ward Two Councillor Shawn Skinner says it is one of the most iconic and picturesque locations in the city — a draw for tourists and residents alike.
He says the pilot will allow them to gauge the impact on residents and business owners in the inner gut.
Barrow’s Road and Stone’s Road will be closed to through traffic from noon to 10 p.m. Friday to Sunday starting this weekend and running through to September 5th. Only local traffic will be allowed and access will be granted for deliveries and Plantation vendors.
