An RNC officer has been charged with careless use of a firearm during an incident at RNC headquarters in St. John’s.
It happened on March 2 of this year and resulted in a single charge being laid against Constable Bernard Morgan.
Mike King, director of the province’s Serious Incident Response Team, or SIRT-NL, said no one was physically injured during the incident.
Constable Morgan’s first court date is set for September 2.
King says the RNC notified his office immediately but because SIRT-NL was not up and running at that time, the RCMP were called in to investigate, with SIRT-NL oversight and review.
King says there will be no further comment while the case is before the courts.
