A historic museum in Salvage is being celebrated for its recent designation as a heritage structure with a plaque unveiling.
The Salvage Fisherman’s Museum was recognized last year by Heritage NL for its historic and aesthetic value.
The building is believed to have been constructed in the mid-19th century.
Heritage NL chair Dr. Lisa Daly says when the museum opened in 1969, it was one of just two community museums outside the capital city.
Today, it’s among the oldest in the province.
The ceremony gets underway at the Salvage Fisherman’s Museum on Mountain View Road this Saturday at 2 p.m.
