The back and forth between NAPE and the province continues over paramedic and ambulance services.
Health Minister John Haggie says an emotional meeting with paramedics this morning further opened his eyes to the struggles they face.
But NAPE president Jerry Earle expressed shock that Haggie wouldn’t already have been aware of what they’re up against, both physically and mentally.
Haggie offered to set up a team of civil servants to meet and work with NAPE to address the issues plaguing emergency services.

Earle says he’d never turn down a meeting with his employer but says the issues have been clear and known for almost a decade.
He says he’s skeptical of today’s olive branch from Haggie, noting a meeting on the same issues in the spring went nowhere.
