There are no plans for the moment to have a mandatory component to the province’s impending vaccination passport.
The government expects to roll it out around the first week of October, but it will be an optional tool for businesses and others.
The “proof of vaccination” is based on the Quebec model, but a key difference is that it is required in Quebec for access to indoor events, restaurants, malls, and the like.
Health Minister John Haggie says that could change when government implements Special Measures Orders in a region or community.
Use of the vaccine passport, under those circumstances, would allow some businesses to have activities that would otherwise have been closed under previous Special Measures Orders, he says.
