Based on the rising number of COVID cases reported across the country due to the highly contagious Delta variant, the provincial government is re-introducing its mandatory mask Special Measures Order in all indoor public spaces.
That includes schools and on school buses.
Masks will once again be mandatory in all indoor public spaces as of midnight tonight.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald made the announcement at an unexpected COVID briefing held today.
Masks will be required on school buses and all common areas in the school. Students in grades 4 to 12 and all staff are required to wear masks at all times while in school, which is the same policy that was in place last year.
Four New Cases
There were four new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province today. Two in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region and two in the Eastern Health region.
There were 15 recoveries since the last update, leaving 38 active cases in Newfoundland and Labrador.
