RCMP confirm the death of a 50-year-old man as the result of a collision between a car and an ATV near Paddy’s Pond during this morning’s commute.

RCMP responded to a report of a head-on collision on the Trans Canada around 7:30 this morning.

The operator of the ATV died at the scene, while the two occupants of the car were sent to hospital with injuries.

The collision caused the temporary closure of the highway and a significant traffic backlog while emergency responders attended the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
