The city of St. John’s is acknowledging its 2021 Senior of the Year, awarding the honour posthumously to Patricia Wright.
The Senior of the Year Award recognizes a senior who is making a difference in the community through leadership, volunteering, helping others, or participating in activities.
For more than 50 years, Wright made significant contributions to both the city and the province.
Much of her early work focused on children’s education, including being a key founder of the Children’s Centre, a not-for-profit school.
Wright volunteered with Seniors NL, and also served the organization as a board member.
