Newfoundland and Labrador had an impressive showing at the Classic World Powerlifting Championships in Sweden from September 23 to October 3rd.
In total, seven Newfoundlanders competed as a part of Team Canada, which saw the country come in 5th place overall.
For the women, Maria Htee finished 2nd in the Open Women, Danielle Hussey and Heather Unsworth finished 5th in their respective divisions, and Mackenzie Rose finished 11th overall in hers.
For the men, T.J. Gear finished 6th in the Open Men, Jeff Butt finished 2nd in his division, and Rob Dyke placed 5th.
The Canadian Powerlifting Union Nationals and Master IPF Worlds are being held in St. John’s next year.
