The province may have its latest young star on its hands. 15-year-old Hudson White of St. John’s, is looking to build on an impressive summer on the mound, having already captured the Top Pitcher Award at the U-15 Atlantic Showcase.

Looking to build on that momentum, he is gearing up to try out for a coveted Team Canada roster spot, something that he says came as a bit of a shock.

He says he has only been fully-committed to the sport for the last couple of years, and with everything happening so fast, it was a bit surreal to actually get the phone call.

The youngster feels ready heading into try-outs, saying his slider is looking pretty sharp heading into camp.

Team Canada Junior National Team Camp kicks off on October 14 in Dunedin, Florida.
