We have come through a warm and dry summer, but the number of forest fires was below the 10-year average for the third consecutive year.
The amount of forest land burned was the second-lowest recorded in the past 10 years.
Government says 84 fires burned a total of 338 hectares of forest land.
The figures are significantly lower than the provincial average of 111 fires and 30,000 hectares burned.
The minister responsible for forestry, Derrick Bragg, credits the vigilance of citizens and the use of online forest fire forecast maps combined with other steps as helping to reduce the number of fires.
